Florida State Auto Tags: Here’s a breakdown of what you need to do, whether you’re a new resident or just bought a vehicle in our state.
You must have Florida auto insurance from a licensed Florida provider before you can register your car.
Joe: Can I use my out-of-state insurance?
Florida State Auto Tags: Sadly, no you must have Florida insurance to get a Florida registration for your vehicle.
Joe: Do you offer Florida insurance?
Florida State Auto Tags: We offer many different insurance plans that are specifically tailored to your individual needs.
Joe: What is the minimum required insurance needed in Florida for registering my vehicle?

Required minimums:
$10,000 Personal Injury Protection (PIP)
$10,000 Property Damage Liability (PDL)
Joe: Can you provide it for me so I can register my Vehicle?
Florida State Auto Tags: Yes, we have many different plans available and will work to get you the cheapest price possible. We are full service and can get both your tag and title as well as your insurance needed to make the process easy for you.
Joe: What documents will I need to provide to register my vehicle?
Florida State Auto Tags:
You’ll need the following:
The title for your car
Valid Florida driver’s license or valid license from a different state
Proof of Florida insurance
Bill of sale or buyer’s order
For out-of-state, you will also need vehicle identification verification.
Joe: Where can I go to get that?
Florida State Auto Tags: You can have a notary, law enforcement officer or DMV verify your VIN number.
Joe: Can you help with that?
Florida State Auto Tags: Yes, we can take care of that for you as well. As part of our full service, a VIN inspection is included.
Joe: What if I am making payments on my car and don’t have the title, what should I do?
Florida State Auto Tags: We can help you order the title from your lienholder, we would need their fax number and or email address of their title department. We will send them a request, and they will forward the title to us so we can register your vehicle in our state.
Joe: How long will that process take?
Florida State Auto Tags: Well, it depends on your bank or lienholder, but it usually takes 3 to 4 weeks to get the title and one day for us to process.
Joe: What if my out of state tag is expired is there anything I can do?
Florida State Auto Tags: Yes, we can get you a temporary tag for 30 days while we wait for your lienholder to send us the title.
Joe: What do I do if I am not a US citizen, can I still register a vehicle in Florida?
Florida State Auto Tags: Yes, but you will need your passport and proof of your I-94 and or a valid visa. You will also need to provide this every time you renew your registration.
Joe: What if I bought my vehicle from a Florida dealer?
Florida State Auto Tags: Then they should be able to process all of your paperwork but if you need insurance, we will be happy to provide a low-cost solution.
Joe: What if I buy it from an out-of-state dealer?
Florida State Auto Tags: You would need to come to the office with the paperwork they sent you. Which should be:
Bill of sale or dealer invoice
Title signed over to you (if not financed), if financed we would have to send a request to your lienholder
Proof of Florida insurance
Joe: What if my vehicle is a leased vehicle?
Florida State Auto Tags: We will need all of the above documents and a copy of the lease agreement.
